When I was 35 life threw me a curve ball and I had a stroke. In the blink of an eye my life was turned upside down. Coming out the other side of having a stroke was hard, I was fortunate enough to regain the movement to the left side of my body however the stroke took it's toll on me psychologically. I felt unsafe within my body, like I couldn't trust myself or my body and felt extremely anxious - always on the look out for signs of another stroke. To help me through this and to be able to find my way back to myself I turned to my Yoga practice and other wellbeing tools, never have I needed these practices so much. These practices allowed me the time and space I needed to feel safe within my body again. I also took the time to learn more about trauma and how Yoga can help with this. During this time I qualified as a trauma informed Yoga teacher allowing me to be able to help other people through similar experiences whilst also learning about my own trauma and being able to heal myself and move forward with my life.
I now help other stroke survivors with their recovery through coaching and Yoga. As a wellbeing coach I put an emphasis on practices and tools that will help you gain agency back over your body and your recovery. My coaching is all about helping you live your best life! Your stroke doesn't define you - you can still live a full and happy life after having a stroke. Head on over to the Wellbeing page to check out all the ways we can work together.

Given my hesitation about yoga prior to my stroke, it was WAY out of my comfort zone to participate in this program with my newly acquired limitations. That said, Anna cultivates a safe environment for even a yoga novice. The universality of having a stroke brings us together as survivors, yet the need for each individual to respect their own strengths, challenges, pace & reality is encouraged by Anna. I had only been aware of the physical aspect of yoga, but Anna brought forth the gentle healing that can come from other essential aspects of yoga - be it breathing, mantra, self-compassion or otherwise. Healing is not linear & so much of what needs to heal is invisible to others. This program helped me begin to work on those things. I plan to continue using what Anna shared, showed, demonstrated & has lived herself. None of us “know” what others have gone or are going through, but Anna has tapped in to her own experience as both a yoga teacher & a stroke survivor to create a special safe haven for even the most insecure & biggest skeptic.
Brenda - The Life After Stroke Programme
I'd come across Anna on social media and was drawn to her story and how returning to her yoga practice had helped her own recovery from a stroke. Her story and posts very much resonated with my post-stroke experiences, especially the wariness I have of my body. I was very keen to understand the impact on the nervous system more fully and find techniques to calm it, especially as my mobility is much reduced since my stroke, and my beloved long mindful walks are not as easy to do. Meeting Anna online for the first time, I felt as though I'd known her for a while, she has a lovely calming presence and empathy with her participants. Anna has clearly spent a great deal of time researching into the subject and the workbook is comprehensive, but not overwhelming. I have come away with new ideas and a better understanding how to regulate difficult feelings when they arise. Anna filled the workshop with theory and practical things to try during and after the session - all in a very safe and supportive environment. She uses three questions to help work through the feelings, and advocates the importance of self compassion, something that is so important, but we can easily neglect in the times when our internal chatter is being counter-productive! There is hope after a stroke and I'd wholeheartedly recommend this workshop as a way of understanding how and why your body reacts in the way that it does, and what to do to help calm it.
Becky - Nervous System Workshop
Loved this workshop, it was great! The workshop helped me to understand more about my nervous system, how trauma affects it and tools and techniques to calm it.
Anna creates a really safe space to explore this. I highly recommend.
